His 1966 hit single "The Cheaters" was more than a song - it was his life - and, ultimately, his death. Who were "The Cheaters"? Why was one victim bludgeoned to death, the other shot in the back and dumped in a cistern? This riveting true-crime account focuses on the motivating factors of lust, greed, and cheating, which triggered two grisly murders in 1983: Walter Scott, the singer of the national hit song "The Cheater," and Sharon Williams, the spouse of Scott's wife's lover. Real-life characters unfold through strong psychological profiles. The pages recreate Scott's struggle to attain stardom--sexual passion--events leading to the murders--a frustrating police investigation--the exhumation of Sharon Williams' courpse...and the gruesome discovery of Scott's body in a cistern. This riveting true-crime account focuses on the motivating factors of lust, greed, and cheating, which triggered two grisly murders in 1983: A faltering justice system and years of legal maneuverings, countered by the persistent efforts of Scott's elderly parents to seek retribution, grip the reader to the last page. Inscription reads: Bill Thanks for all the "Royal" insights. Hope you enjoy! Rick. Before 2011, Rick?s career was all journalism: investigative reporter for different newspapers and later inventive magazine editor. The two roles in the same business exposed his different sides: he thrives on the thrill of an investigation and he has a creative curiosity for design and writing he has never tamed. So in 2011 he merged the two and started writing fiction. In 2016 he published his best-selling thriller, NAKED AMBITION. His second thriller, THE APPRENTICE, was published in December, 2017. His third novel, NAKED TRUTH, the sequel to NAKED AMBITION, was published in September 2018. Rick?s is founding editor of Leader?s Edge, an international business magazine (his second magazine startup). After 15 years at the helm, he left his baby in 2019 to pursue writing books full-time. When newspaper reporter Beck Rikki receives an unsolicited call from a high-ranking government official sending him off to investigate a candidate for President of the United States, he doesn't realize he's stumbled onto the story of a lifetime. As he digs deeper, he follows a trail of murder, bribery, infidelity and deceit that runs from Canada to the Caribbean--but all signs point to the White House. Beck finds nothing is quite as it appears--not his sources, not his curious new love interest and especially not the story he's pursuing. In the confusion, he suspects the motives of everyone--including his new love. He must figure out the truth. More

Name of previous owner on the fep. Ellery Queen is a pseudonym created in 1929 by American crime fiction writers Frederic Dannay and Manfred Bennington Lee and the name of their main fictional character, a mystery writer in New York City who helps his police inspector father solve baffling murders. Dannay and Lee wrote most of the more than thirty novels and several short story collections in which Ellery Queen appeared as a character, and their books were among the most popular of American mysteries published between 1929 and 1971. In addition to the fiction featuring their eponymous brilliant amateur detective, the two men acted as editors: as Ellery Queen they edited more than thirty anthologies of crime fiction and true crime, and Dannay founded and for many decades edited Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, which has been published continuously from 1941 to the present. From 1961, Dannay and Lee also commissioned other authors to write crime thrillers using the Ellery Queen nom de plume, but not featuring Ellery Queen. The prolific duo wrote four mysteries under the pseudonym Barnaby Ross. Adding another dimension of complexity to their relations, the two men were cousins, each born in Brooklyn, New York, who created the nom de plume Ellery Queen using their professional names. Frederic Dannay was the professional name of Daniel Nathan (October 20, 1905 – September 3, 1982), and Manfred Bennington Lee that of Emanuel Benjamin Lepofsky (January 11, 1905 – April 3, 1971). In forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan, Reichs has created a detective fiction heroine who's brilliant to the bone. In "Bones Never Lie, " Kathy Reichs never fails to satisfy readers looking for psychological suspense that's more than skin-deep. "Kathy Reichs writes smart--no, make that brilliant--mysteries that are as realistic as nonfiction can be. "In the acclaimed author's thrilling new novel, Brennan is at the top of her game in a battle of wits against the most monstrous adversary she has ever encountered. Unexpectedly called in to the Charlotte PD's Cold Case Unit, Dr. Temperance Brennan wonders why she's been asked to meet with a homicide cop who's a long way from his own jurisdiction. The shocking answer: Two child murders, separated by thousands of miles, have one thing in common--the killer. Years ago, Anique Pomerleau kidnapped and murdered a string of girls in Canada, then narrowly eluded capture. Now, as if summoned from their nightmares, Pomerleau has resurfaced in the United States, linked to victims in Vermont and North Carolina. When another child is snatched, the reign of terror promises to continue--unless Brennan can rise to the challenge and make good on her second chance to stop a psychopath. More
