Kluckhohn began his journalistic career with The St. Paul Dispatch becoming a general reporter at the paper. Joining The New York Times, he served as a correspondent reporting from over 70 countries between 1929 to 1947. Reporting on the Spanish Civil War, Kluckhohn was first to report on the German intervention when aircrews entered the hotel in Seville. During WWII, he reported from both the European and Pacific Theatres, including coverage of the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Kluckhohn along with Hugh Baillie, became the first American journalists to interview Emperor Hirohito. He then became an advisor to the Secretary of Defense and handled publicity for the Republican National Committee. He was an advisor to the Department of State and was on the staff of Congress. More

Lewis Arthur Larson (July 4, 1910 – March 27, 1993) was an American lawyer, law professor, United States Under Secretary of Labor from 1954 to 1956, director of the United States Information Agency from 1956 to 1957, and Executive Assistant for Speeches for U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1957 to 1958. In 1941, during World War II, Larson moved to Washington, D.C., when he mostly worked in the Office of Price Administration. In 1945, he became an assistant professor at Cornell Law School. Over the next seven years he produced a legal treatise on the Law of Workmen's Compensation (Mathew Bender: 1952), which led to his being named in 1953 as dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After leaving the Eisenhower administration, Larson became a law professor at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he specialized in international law, arms control, and disarmament. More

Lindsey (1920–2011), a leading Canadian defence scientist, gained widespread recognition in the Western alliance during a government career that spanned nearly the whole of the Cold War. Trained as a scientist in nuclear physics, he conducted operational research during the Second World War and became a strategic analyst for the Canadian defence department in the post-war period.
