COSMIC is NASA's Computer Software Technology Transfer Center. ESTSC is the Energy Science and Technology Software Center, and NTIS is the National Technical Information Service. The Energy Science and Technology Software Center has been replaced by DOE CODE, the Department of Energy's new software services platform and search tool. COSMIC distributes advanced computer software programs developed with NASA funding in support of various projects. As part of the NASA Technology Transfer Network, COSMIC’s mission is to provide government organizations, private companies and universities with access to these programs. Ongoing NASA programs in aeronautics and space research provides a constant in-flow of new computer code to COSMIC. More

Schichtle, Jr., United States Air Force, wrote this monograph while a Senior Research Fellow with the National Defense University and a student at the National War College. He Is a distinguished military graduate of. the AFROTC program at Drake University, where he received a bachelor of Arts Degree in mathematics. Under the sponsorship of the Civilian Institutions Division of the Air Force Institute of Technology, he received a master of science degree in operations research and statistics from Texas A&M University. As the first recipient of that university's Fellowship for Scholarship Excellence, he earned a Ph.D. In operation research and management. Colonel Schlchtle Is a parachutist and master navigator and holds seven civilian flying certificates (Commercial Flight Navigator and Commercial Pilot with Instrument and multiengine ratings). His flying experience included three years of development testing of E-3A Amber Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft while Deputy Air Force Plant Representative at the Boeing Company, Seattle Washington. This is a compendium of outstanding Landsat satellite photographs depicting the Earth's surface from space. Paul Lowman is a geologist, with degrees from Rutgers and the University of Colorado. He was hired by NASA in 1959, the first geologist to be employed by the agency. He took part in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab programs as principal investigator for terrain photography. He was Principal Investigator for a Shuttle Imaging Radar Experiment, covering the Canadian Shield, in 1984. More
