Paris: Renn Productions (Paris) and Burrell Productions (London), 1992. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus. Single sheet, printed on one side, folded. This is a movie poster for the French film L'amant. It measures approximately 45 inches by 61 inches. Few copies of this size, presumably used for in theater advertisement and promotion, appear to have survived--based on research on the Internet. It has been folded four times, resulting in 16 panels, printed on one side only. Poster has Black and Red printing. Text is in French. The film was a French-British co-production involving Renn Productions (Paris) and Burrell Productions (London). Distributed by AMLF (Pathe). The Lover (French: L'Amant) is a 1992 erotic romantic drama film produced by Claude Berri and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. Based on the semi-autobiographical 1984 novel of the same name by Marguerite Duras, the film details the illicit affair between a teenage French girl and a wealthy Chinese man in 1929 French Indochina. The protagonist is portrayed by Jane March and her lover is portrayed by Tony Leung Ka-fai. The film also features Jeanne Moreau as a narrator. Development began in 1989, with principal photography commencing in 1991. The film made its theatrical debut on 22 January 1992 in France, on 19 June in the United Kingdom, and in the United States on 30 October of the same year. The film was nominated for the 1992 Academy Award for Best Cinematography and won the Motion Picture Sound Editors' 1993 Golden Reel Award for "Best Sound Editing — Foreign Feature". It was nominated for seven César Awards in France, winning the Award for Best Original Music. The film was a box office success in France and received generally positive reviews in Europe. More

Washington DC: National Geographic Society, National Geographic Maps, 1998. Reprint of a 1974 version. Single sheet, printed on both sides. 30 inches by 22 inches. Printed on both sides. Folded. Small tear at one fold. The 'front' side is largely a detailed map with Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana on the left side and the Atlantic coastal states on the right side, with the other states presented in the middle. Also included in an inset at the lower right side showing the major offensives. The other side presents the War in the Southwest, The Cockpit of the War, and insets on Gettysburg, Grant at Richmond, Charleston Harbor, Fort Sumter, Nashville to Atlanta, Battles for Atlanta, the Vicksburg Campaign and Memphis to Huntsville. The venerable Cartographic Division of the National Geographic Society has charted everything from the depths of the Grand Canyon (one mile) to the mountains of Mars (Arsia Mons, about 73,000 feet, more than two Everests) since the division was created in 1915. Soldiers and pilots carried National Geographic maps into combat during World War II. John F. Shupe, chief cartographer, reported that 1992 had been the busiest year for making new maps that he can recall in his 26-year career. "With the breakup of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, and the new countries in Africa, we had 20 new pieces of geography to add to the map in about a year." More
