The Guide provides an introduction to the basic concepts and techniques pertaining to the use of robotics technology for manufacturing and industrial application. The concepts of hierarchical control by computer-sensor systems is stressed. Thompson II was born on May 18, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA as Charles Clinton Thompson II. Mr. Thompson, a Navy combat veteran of the Vietnam War, was exposed to the toxic defoliant Agent Orange in the 1960s during a military assignment as a land-based spotter for naval gunfire in Southeast Asia. He was a producer and writer, known for 60 Minutes (1968), A Glimpse of Hell (2001) and 60 Minutes Wednesday (1999). He uncovered evidence pointing to a drug overdose as the cause of singer Elvis Presley’s death. Charles C. Thompson II was a TV news producer who in 1991 helped expose mustard gas experiments on thousands of unwitting U.S. Navy recruits during World War II. He returned from the war ostensibly unscathed, but the effects of Agent Orange would surface nearly 30 years and forced his early retirement from CBS in 1995. More
