The index in the back is an alphabetical list of the descendant-recipients, which ancestor names to the right. This volume contains an alphabetical list of Confederate soldiers whose last names begin with A, B, or C. To the right of the name is information on the soldier's last know Confederate service. If it is known that the soldier received a Southern Cross of Honor, this information appears on the next line. Recipients of Crosses, Medals, or Certificates who are lineal descendants of Confederate veterans are listed beneath the names of their Confederate ancestors. To the right of the name is the branch of service and relationship to the ancestor. On the net line is the name of the award, its number (if known), the date of bestowal, and the name of the chapter who gave it (of "Georgia Division" if awarded by Division). The Crosses and Medals of the UDC are: Southern Cross of Honor, Crosses of Military Service, National Defense Medal, Pioneers in Space Medal, Pioneers in Space Technical Certificate, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Certificate of Appreciation for Military Service. This appears to be the first volume of what became a four-volume set. More
