Signed with sentiment on title page. Reads Best of Luck--woof! Sheila Boneham. Sheila Webster Boneham writes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, much of it focused on animals, nature, and travel. Her Animals in Focus mystery series features animal photographer Janet MacPhail, her Australian Shepherd Jay, and her tabby cat Leo. Their lives and adventures are based largely on the author's long experience as a competitor in canine and equine sports, rescuer, shelter volunteer, breeder, therapy volunteer, author of dog & cat books, and life-long animal lover. Sheila has also published seventeen nonfiction books about animals, including the highly regarded Rescue Matters! How to Find, Foster, and Rehome Companion Animals. Six of Sheila's books have been named best in their categories by the Dog Writers Association of America and the Cat Writers Association, and several others have been finalists in the groups' annual competitions. In her teens and twenties, she showed hunters and jumpers, and was Indiana Hunt Seat Equitation Champion for 3 years. In addition to her own dogs, Sheila has fostered many rescued dogs and a few cats, and helped found two rescue programs. A strong advocate of responsible breeding as well, Sheila has bred highly successful Australian Shepherds under the kennel name "Perennial." Sheila trains and competes in several canine sports, and her dogs have also served as therapy dogs in schools, hospitals, libraries, and nursing homes. More

Manchester, CT: Precision Shooting, 1998. Presumed First Edition, First printing. Trade paperback. xx, [2], 612, [2] pages. Oversized book, measuring 11 inches by 8-1/2 inches. Very slightly cocked. Includes dedication, Introduction, A Personal Introduction and Welcome, How to use this book, and Acknowledgments. Includes chapters For Beginners--Mostly; For Everybody--The Details; and Training for Highpower Competition. Also includes Bibliography, Appendix--Important and Useful Addresses; and Index. Popular Precision Shooting columnist Randolph Constantine (literally a retired PH.D. Rocket Scientist) spent two full years in the preparation of his major work on highpower rifle competition. It has over 600 full-size (8 1/2 x 11) pages and over 100 illustrating photos and is remarkably reader-friendly in its approach to an occasionally daunting subject. This book was written primarily for the beginning and intermediate highpower rifle shooter. With very few exceptions, all of the photographs in this book were taken by the author or his wife, Penny T. Constantine. The author was Precision Shooting magazine's senior columnist and a master class shooter. He supported NASA as a contractor at the Johnson Space Center working in support of the Space Shuttle Program. One might posit that helping achieve pinpoint accuracy in targeting the International Space Station from earth with the Shuttle-size bullet was good preparation for hitting smaller targets on earth with smaller (than the Space Shuttle) caliber projectile.
