A third book, Coercive Inducement and the Containment of Crises, was the first runner-up for the Grawemeyer Award on Ideas for Improving World Order. He was Federal Employee of the Year in the Professional Category in 1995, and he has received several exceptional performance awards from the Department of the Navy and the Central Intelligence Agency.
