sixteen flying machines inspired by leonardo da vinci. Dennis Hommel.
Menlo Park, CA: Atta Co. 1991. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus. Ephemera. 34 pages plus envelope. Illustrations. Envelop has been opened with minor scuffing/tear. Sticker residue on back of envelop. Copyright is held by Jason Hommel, son of Dennis Hommel. Based upon a review posted on-line: While there are indeed 16 paper airplanes in the kit, there are only 4 designs, so you are in fact building the same planes 4 times. Very little background is given on Leonardo, and most of that is on the envelope that holds the sheets of paper. Of the 34 pages in this, 32 pages are the sheets of paper for the paper airplanes. The other two pages are both sides of a single sheet and contains some assembly instructions (including for a mobile). The paper for the paper airplanes is top quality and the design of them really make them look like they could have been torn out of da Vinci's notebooks. The 4 designs are decent and fly very well, and the instructions are complete and very well done.
