Appendices (Glossary of Abbreviations, Comparison of Loses, and Military Bibliography of Indochina). Index. Endpaper maps. DJ torn and worn. Foreword by Marshall Andrews. Bernard B. Fall (November 19, 1926 – February 21, 1967) was a war correspondent, historian, political scientist, and expert on Indochina during the 1950s and 1960s. He started fighting for the French Resistance at the age of sixteen, and later the French Army during World War II. In 1950 he first came to the U. S. for graduate studies at Syracuse University and Johns Hopkins University, returning to live in the U.S.. He taught at Howard University for most of his career and made regular trips to Southeast Asia to learn about changes and the societies. He predicted the failures of France and the United States in the wars in Vietnam because of their tactics and lack of understanding of the societies. He was killed by a landmine while accompanying United States Marines on a patrol in 1967.

Marine Rifleman: Forty-Three Years in the Corps. Wesley L. Fox.
Washington, DC: Brassey's Inc. 2002. First Edition/Third Printing [stated]. Hardcover. xv, 395 pages. Illustrations. Glossary. Notes. Index. Signed by author. Inscribed to the late Congressman Charlie Norwood (R-GA). Fox received the Medal of Honor, which President Nixon presented to him. Fox resolutely embraced the ethos of the Marine Corps, risking his life on numerous occasions and emerging as a leader. While serving as a rifle company commander with the Third Marine Division in 1969, he was twice wounded during Operation Dewey Canyon. In this battle, every member of the company's command staff was either wounded or killed. In an all-or-nothing effort led by Fox, his company repulsed the attack of a larger enemy force and then counterattacked with devastating results.
