Robert Duane Ballard (born June 30, 1942) is a retired American Navy officer and a professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island who is most noted for his work in underwater archaeology: maritime archaeology and archaeology of shipwrecks. He is most known for the discoveries of the wrecks of the RMS Titanic in 1985, the battleship Bismarck in 1989, and the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in 1998. He discovered the wreck of John F. Kennedy's PT-109 in 2002 and visited Biuku Gasa and Eroni Kumana, who saved its crew. He leads ocean exploration on E/V Nautilus. Ballard joined the United States Army in 1965 through the Army's Reserve Officers Training program. He was designated as an intelligence officer and initially received a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army Reserve. When called to active duty in 1967, he asked to fulfill his obligation in the United States Navy and he was transferred to the Navy Reserve. After completing his active duty obligation in 1970, he was returned to reserve status, where he remained for much of his military career. He retired from the Navy as a commander in 1995 after reaching the statutory service limit. Malcolm McConnell is the author or co-author of many books, including the New York Times number 1 bestsellers American Soldier with Gen. Tommy Franks and and My Year in Iraq with L. Paul Bremer III. His last Army post was as the Commander of the U.S. Central Command, overseeing U.S. military operations in a 25-country region, including the Middle East. Franks succeeded General Anthony Zinni to this position on July 6, 2000 and served until his retirement on July 7, 2003. Franks was the U.S. general leading the attack on the Taliban in Afghanistan in response to the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon in 2001. He also oversaw the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. He sits in the Board of Trustees for William Penn University, a university supported by the Quakers. A museum dedicated to him lies in Hobart, Oklahoma. More

Claudia Jean Kennedy (born July 14, 1947) is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Army. She is the first woman to reach the rank of three-star general in the U.S. Army. She retired in 2000 after 31 years of military service. After receiving her commission in 1969, Kennedy served two tours in Germany and one tour in South Korea and focused much of her military career in the fields of intelligence and cryptology. On May 21, 1997, Kennedy became the first woman in the U.S. Army to hold a three-star rank. She was named Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence. Kennedy is a member of the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame. In June 2010, she was appointed as chairwoman of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, a committee which is appointed by the United States Secretary of Defense and which reports to the United States Department of Defense. Malcolm McConnell was born in Illinois and raised in Wisconsin. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after one year. He attended the University of Wisconsin and after graduation he left Wisconsin at the young age of 21 to work for the State Department in Washington, DC as a Foreign Service Officer; he was placed in Africa for 8 years. At age 30 he resigned from the State Department. Mr. McConnell started his personal writing career and wrote two novels that were realistic spy stories. He states that he got his inspiration for his novels from his experience in Africa. Mr. McConnell taught creative writing at four different universities. Mr. McConnell was a roving editor/writer for Reader’s Digest for 25 years. His work at Reader’s Digest allowed him to travel all over the world to cover a wide variety of stories.
