This Coalition for Polish Independence predates the founding of the Solidarity Trade Union by about four years. Little can currently be found about either the Coalition or The North American Study Center for Polish Affairs. The Study Center wanted to draw people's attention to this statement written by "clandestine opposition groups" in Poland. There was a "Manifesto of 59" that opposed then recently proposed changes in the Polish Constitution which were asserted were aimed as legalizing Poland's subordination to Russia. More
