This book includes classic drawings complemented by 12 never before-in-print essays. A wonderful gathering of pieces by this Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist. This is the author's sixth book, and includes his commentary on the state of American politics and the world at large through the 1960's and early 1970's, including the Vietnam war, Nixon, student uprisings, Kent State, the peace movement, hippies, civil rights movement, civil liberties, etc. Herblock was a superb stylist and generally a political liberal. He began drawing cartoons for the Chicago Daily News (1929-33), later moving to the Newspaper Enterprise Association (1933-43) and to the Washington Post (1946-2001). Condition: good, good.
