Used in all aspects of war, its effectiveness is limited only by the ingenuity of the commander using it. The principal objective of PSYOP is to promote specific opinions, emotions, attitudes, and/or behavior of a foriegn audience in support of United States or coalition objectives. Graphic evidence of the effectiveness of PSYOP was seen during Desert Storm when many enemy soldiers were moved to surrender rather than fight. This booklet explains the mission, organizations, capabilities, and major equipment of the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne), the Army's only Active Component PSYOP force.
