Moscow: Izdatel'stvo Akademii Nauk, 1960. Quarto, 149 + plates, 18 pages of plates at the end of the volume (28 photographs & 2 large folded photographs), large map of lunar surface laid in. Tables, some wear to spine edges and board corners, ex-NASA Library (few library markings), "Printed in USSR" stamp inside front flyleaf, slight discoloration to a few pages. Limited edition of 5, 000 copies, which were not made publicly available. The far side of the moon was first photographed by the Soviets' Luna 3 probe in 1959; this book is the first appearance in Russian of these photographs. Text is in Russian. Condition: very good, ex-lib.
