Foreword by Admiral Sir Herbert Richmond. The author was also an Admiral and a Knight of the realm. It is the object of this treatist to show that the new conditions do not justify the upsetting of old principles and that the doctrine is wrong militariliy, in that it militates against the maximum concentration of all arms whether in attack or defense and that, especially in the case of maritime power. The author argues that over-reliance on strategic air power is dangerous to overall security. The advent of regional and low-intensity conflict appears to revalidate the forword thinking expounded by Admiral Dickens. Condition: Good. No dust jacket. Cover has some wear and soiling.
