The Vo!ce: April, 2009

Silver Spring, MD: Woodside Park Civic Association, 2009. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus. Wraps. 16 pages. Includes illustrations. Some illustrations in color. This is the newsletter of the Woodside Park Civic Association. Woodside Park was established in the early 1920s, at a time when the Washington, DC metropolitan region was barely emerging from its rural origins. It was built upon what was part of Alton Farm, formerly owned by Crosby S. Noyes, a notable of the late 19th century. This includes a one page (two column) article on Marian Dirda, a conservator of paper, print and drawings at The National Gallery of Art, who was a member of the team of experts who came together to select the art for the Obama family's private residence in the White House. This brief article, in a publication that has a low print run and is inherently ephemeral, provides a brief but rare look at a little documented aspect of Presidential transitions and domestic life. Condition: Good. No dust jacket.
