This is part of a five volume set, the first three being the Literature series, the fourth being on Foreign Participation, and this fifth being a summation of the Activtiies of the Commission and completion of the report. The purpose of the United States George Washington Bicentennial Celebration as concieved by the Commission, as planned and supervised by the DIrector, and as carried out under his direction by the staff, had two great accomplishments in mind. The first of these was to record, and the second to celebrate, the events, influences, and lissions of the life of the First President. The purpose of this present volume was to show how the great commemoration was accomplished, its wide scope, and its many and varied achievements throughout the land and among all the people. The celebration comprised a total of 4, 760, 345 separate and distinct programs. Eighty-one countries participated. Condition: Fair. No dust jacket as issued. Cover has wear and soiling.
