Sea Power in the Next War

London: Geoffrey Bles, 1938. Hardcover. viii, 183, [1] p. 21 cm. Occational footnotes. Index. This is one of The Next War series which was edited by Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart. From a biography posted on line: "Capt. Russell Grenfell (1892-1954), was a naval officer and author. His last post before his retirement was at the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich. As the years went on he became convinced of the need for a navy composed of a larger number of smaller ships and adequate air cover, views which he attained after an arduous analysis of the fundamentals of modern war. His arguments on these tactical and strategical subjects were always moderately and clearly expressed, and their development may be followed in The Art of the Admiral (1937), Sea Power in the next War (1938), and in his lecture delivered early in 1939 at the Royal United Services Institution, Whitehall. His skill in narrative was well shown in The Bismarck Episode and his sure grasp of naval strategy was demonstrated again in 1948 in his critical study Nelson the Sailor." Condition: Good. Some endpaper discoloration.
