The author was deputy technical director of the Gemini Project for the Martin-Marietta Corporation. Appointment in the Sky is authoritative while presented for a general audience. Project Gemini was the pivotal stage between Project Mercury (sub-orbital flight) and Project Apollo (moon flight). The purpose of Project Gemini was to rendezvous in space with an unmanned vehicle, remain in space for a period of time and then land on a predesignated point. Mr. Levine also covers Russian activities in space and reveals facts about three Russian losses in space: one manned ship exploded during launching and two went up that have never come down. Training of astronauts, problems encountered in space, and landing the spacecraft and a description of a moon trip are discussed. Condition: Very good in fair dust jacket. Price clipped.
