He graduated from Lehigh University, then spent eight years in the coal business in Mahanoy City and Lykens. In 1952, he ran for Pennsylvania House of Representatives with the campaign motto "I am less interested in the problems of the rich man entering heaven, and more interested in the problems of the poor man here on earth." His campaign lead to his appointment as Executive Secretary to Governor George Leader. After three years in Harrisburg, at the age of 33, he matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Following law school, Dave joined Ballard, Spahr, Andrews and Ingersoll, where he rose to partner specializing in tax law. In 1972, Randall became the first University Counsel for Temple University, and later head of Government Affairs, from which he retired in 1995. While serving as counsel, he also taught a law school course on state and local taxes. Randall pursued many interests, including writing, self-publishing a series of works, including a two-volume genealogy of the Randall family, a travelogue describing a salmon fishing trip to Mongolia, and many letters and essays. This is a story of politics in Pennsylvania but a long-time practitioner who worked for a Governor and participated in key primary and general election campaign roles. His life experiences provides texture and perspective to this narrative that is rarely found in similar works. Set initially in the mid-1930s this work addresses natural resources, income disparity, and the bare-knuckle politics for which Pennsylvania has been noted for. Condition: Very good.
