Nuclear Terms; A Brief Glossary

Washington, DC: GPO, 1967. Second Edition. Wraps. [2], 37, [1] pages. Wraps. Other Glossaries. Tables. Ex-library with usual library markings, some blacked out. Slight wear and soiling to covers. This is one of the Understanding the Atom series. There are 51 booklets in the "Understanding the Atom Series" series published by the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission. The booklets can be grouped into the categories of physics, chemistry, biology, nuclear reactors, the environment, and general interest. Nine of the booklets were available in French and 15 were available in Spanish. Terms defined in this glossary are among those commonly used in nuclear science and its applications. Some also are in common usage or apply in other specialized areas of science and technology. When this is the case, the definitions given are those which have special meaning in nuclear fields, unless otherwise indicated. This glossary is intended for persons who are not specialists in the subject matter of atomic energy. Some definitions may for that reason fall short of technical precision or completeness. A reference list on page 66 includes other glossaries and detailed sources of information. For cross-references, italic type is used. Definitions that employ or refer the reader to synonymous, parallel, similar, or related terms defined elsewhere in this glossary show such terms in italics. Condition: very good.
