This is a Compact Disc(with a diameter of approximately 3 inches) that contains a course that was designed to help the recipient prepare for any emergency or disaster, and specifically to: create a personalized Emergency Preparation Checklist; and to Respond to an emergency or disaster by applying Emergency Management Concepts. It comes in stiff card packaging that is folded in thirds and has images and/or text on each of the six panels. One panel has a pocket that contains the CD. The packaging, unfolded, is approximately 11 inches by 5 inches. The minimum system requirements was Windows 95, 256 MB RAM, 400 MHz processor, CD-ROM player, Graphics card, sound card, Internet Explorer 6.0, and Flash Player 7.0. This was part of the Employee Education System of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is a key player in emergency management for both veterans and civilians. Unfortunately, limited evidence-based research findings exist regarding the role and experience of VA during disasters. In particular the Department of Veterans Affairs was involved with the effects of disaster on mental health status and services use, effects of disaster on general health services use, patient tracking, evacuation, and disaster planning/preparation.
