Andrew Mark Cuomo (born December 6, 1957) is an American politician, author and lawyer serving as the 56th and current Governor of New York since 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he was elected to the same position his father, Mario Cuomo, held for three terms. He began his career working as the campaign manager for his father, then as an assistant district attorney in New York City. In 1993, Cuomo joined the Clinton Administration as Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development in the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. From 1997 to 2001, he served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. The premise of this book is that America is at a crossroads, focusing on the then-upcoming 2004 election. Or more specifically, the premise is that Democratic Party is at a crossroads, having lost badly in the 2000 presidential election and the 2002 Congressional election, and that they'd better fix what's wrong in preparation for 2004. Cuomo got a diverse group of politicians and pundits to write essays based on the premise of the "crossroad" and what path should be followed. Among the contributors are: Douglas Brinkley, Howard Dean, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, John Kerry, Joe Lieberman, Frank Luntz, Peggy Noonan, Norman Ornstein, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Scarborough, Al Sharpton, J. C. Watts and John Zogby. Condition: Very good / Very good.
