Patch USA (RET) with address on fep. Patch was a retired major general and former commander of the Army Training Center and Fort Dix who graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1948. He graduated from the Command and General Staff College; the Armed Forces Staff College, and the Army War College. He served as a company commander during the Korean War, when he was wounded in combat. He served as aide-de-camp to the chief of staff at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. He later served as an Army instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy and as deputy battle group commander of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, N.C. Gen. Patch served two tours in Vietnam, first as commander of Detachment C-2, 5th Special Forces Group and then as commander of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. He became chief of the tactics group at the Army Infantry School at Fort Benning. Frazier Hunt worked for newspapers throughout his career. In February, 1918, Hunt went to France as a war correspondent. Hunt was then sent into Siberia where the American troops had made an attempt to halt the Bolshevists. He has commented regularly on world affairs on the radio and divided his time between writing newspaper features, articles, and books. From a Kirkus Review: Beginning with MacArthur's ancestry, Hunt traces the career of his father; MacArthur's own youth- at West Point and during the early assignments to the Philippines, and Leavenworth, during the Mexican revolution, in World War I and in the modernization of West Point. Part II is entitled The Fight for Preparedness and beginning with his return to the Philippines, outlines his plans for the military empire to safeguard the Pacific. The account of the splendid campaign conducted in the South Pacific follows and when MacArthur became supreme commander in Japan, his policies there are viewed as far-seeing and humane.
