The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) [Formerly the American Defense Preparedness Association] is an association for the United States government and the defense industry. Based in Arlington, Virginia, NDIA was established in 1919 as a result of the inability of the defense industry to scale up the war effort during World War I. It connects government officials, military and industry professionals, and organizations that represent the branches of the armed forces, homeland security, and first responders. The NDIA publishes a magazine, the National Defense, and holds over 80 symposia a year. Articles in this issue address the Defense Industry Trends and Technology, CH-46, Trainer, Defense Sales, Sales Offsets, Military Modernization, Sealift, Armed Merchant Ships, Gallium Arsenide, Airborne Radar, Patuxent River Naval Air Test Center, Ballistic Missiles, Local Area Networks, Robert Southard, Aircraft Self-Protection, Foreign Military Developments, Sensors, Decoys. Naval Air Station Patuxent River, also known as NAS Pax River, is a United States naval air station located in St. Mary's County, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Patuxent River. It is home to Headquarters, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, the Atlantic Test Range, and serves as a center for test and evaluation and systems acquisition relating to naval aviation. Commissioned on April 1, 1943, on land largely acquired through eminent domain, the air station grew rapidly in response to World War II and continued to evolve through the Cold War to the present. Condition: Good.
