Jerry Grey is the Former Director of Science and Technology Policy for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was professor of aerospace science at Princeton University for 15 years, and has written multiple science books. In 1982 he was the Deputy Secretary-General for the United Nations Second Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. This work chronicles he expansion of the exploration of space, pointing to a future that was scarcely imaginable at the time this book was written. It showed how that future was being built, step by step, upon what had already been learned and what people know they could do. It had become clear that space was more than something to travel through. It offered opportunities for long-range communications, remote-sensing and Earth observation. It offered the opportunity to develop new manufacturing processes that would enable the creation of materials impossible to form on Earth. The author felt that for sound economic, military, scientific and sociological reasons, the development of the next generation of space stations was inevitable. Condition: Very good / Good.
