The authors were associated with the Department of Physiology and Biophysics of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Male Sprague-Dawley rats, individually caged, were exposed to low-level irradiation with chronic dosages from a CO-60 source for 16 hours a day. The animals were selected by weight and growth rated and divided into eight groups of 22 rats. With the exception of the relation between 0.60 and 0.28 r/day, the data was statistically significant at the 5% level. It was suggested that the effects of ionizing irradiation interact with the effect of environment in influencing longevity. The concept for the Radiation Research Society originated during a symposium held at Oberlin College, and shortly thereafter an organizing committee was assembled with Gioacchino Failla elected Chairman. The Committee proceeded to prepare the constitution and by-laws of the Radiation Research Society, ballots were mailed for the election of the first officers, and legally incorporated in the District of Columbia in March 1952. Radiation Research, the official journal of the Radiation Research Society, is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal covering research into the areas of biology, chemistry, medicine and physics, including epidemiology and translational research at academic institutions, private research institutes, research hospitals and government agencies. The editorial content of Radiation Research is devoted to every aspect of scientific research into radiation. The goal of the Journal is to provide researchers with the latest information in all areas of radiation science. Condition: Good.
