During service, Clif earned a Master's in Communication from Stanford University. He learned more about communications while serving in the Public Affairs office at the Department of Defense. After retirement from active duty, Clif became editor-in-chief of aerospace and defense magazines, including Armed Forces Journal and AIR FORCE Magazine.
