Martin Caidin (September 14, 1927 – March 24, 1997) was an American author and an authority on aeronautics and aviation. Caidin began writing fiction during 1957, and authored more than 50 fiction and nonfiction books, as well as more than 1,000 magazine articles. His best-known novel is Cyborg, which was the basis for The Six Million Dollar Man franchise. He also wrote numerous works of military history, especially concerning aviation. Caidin was an airplane pilot as well, and bought and restored a 1936 Junkers Ju 52 airplane. Caidin also taught a progressive journalism course at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Air Force Captain Whip Russel leads his B-25 bomber group, in the summer of 1942, on a special mission that changes the direction and decisions of war in the Pacific. They called him Whip because that was the way he handled a plane. Small, wiry, always ready for action, Captain Whip Russel was a terror in the air...and the pilots of his Brigade of B-25 bombers were the best outfit in the Pacific in 1942. With the Japanese at the height of their power, Whip and his boys flew into Northern Australia on a special assignment that was to change the drift of the war - and teach them all a thing or two about victory...and defeat. Condition: Good.
