The subject of the interview was the National Technology Initiative and DOE's enhanced technology transfer program. John Burgess began as a Metro reporter for The Washington Post in 1980, served as Tokyo bureau chief from 1984-87, then held various editing and writing jobs on the Post's business news staff until 2000. My final job was as a deputy foreign editor, in charge of Europe, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. James David Watkins (March 7, 1927 – July 26, 2012) was a United States Navy admiral and former Chief of Naval Operations who served as the United States Secretary of Energy during the George H. W. Bush administration, also chairing U.S. government commissions on HIV/AIDS and ocean policy. Watkins also served on the boards of various companies and other nongovernmental organizations and as the co-chair of the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative. Mary Joy Jameson was the Public Affairs Director at the Department of Energy. Condition: Good.
