In 1917, at the beginning of the Russian Revolution, a class of midshipmen was sent to the Far East on a routine eight months training mission. This is the story of the next four years, as they supported themselves in commercial shipping and aided refugees. The book covers events that occurred between 1917-1921, and describes the war of life and attitudes in Indochina, Hong Kong, and elsewhere. Deprived of funds to carry out the training as planned, the cadets and their officers managed to provide the necessary means by engaging in coastal trade, carrying various cargos in the holds of their ship. Condition: Good.
