Twenty-Four Illustrations in full color. Cover has some wear and soiling. Top and bottom of spine torn. National Geographic is the official magazine of the National Geographic Society. It has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888, nine months after the Society itself was founded. It primarily contains articles about geography, history, and world culture. The magazine is known for its extensive use of dramatic photographs. The magazine is published monthly, and additional map supplements are also included with subscriptions. On occasion, special editions of the magazine are issued. The first issue of National Geographic Magazine was published on September 22, 1888, nine months after the Society was founded. Starting with its January 1905 publication of several full-page pictures of Tibet in 1900–1901, the magazine changed from being a text-oriented publication to featuring extensive pictorial content. Included in this issue are: The Pageant of Jerusalem with 56 Illustrations by Edward Keith-Roach; Color Records from the Changing Life of the Holy City with 27 Autochromes by Maynard Owen Williams; East of Suez to the Mount of the Decalogue with 33 Illustrations by Maynard Owen Williams; and The Geography of Money with 31 Illustrations by William Atherton Du Puy. Edward Keith-Roach CBE (Born 1885 - died 1954). Keith-Roach was the British Colonial administrator during the British mandate on Palestine, who also served as the governor of Jerusalem from 1926 to 1945 (excluding a period in the 1930s when he was governor of the Galilee). Reuters labeled him ‘the Pasha of Jerusalem’. Condition: Fair.
