National Geographic is the official magazine of the National Geographic Society. It has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888, nine months after the Society itself was founded. It primarily contains articles about geography, history, and world culture. The magazine is known for its extensive use of dramatic photographs. The magazine is published monthly, and additional map supplements are also included with subscriptions. On occasion, special editions of the magazine are issued. The first issue of National Geographic Magazine was published on September 22, 1888, nine months after the Society was founded. Starting with its January 1905 publication of several full-page pictures of Tibet in 1900–1901, the magazine changed from being a text-oriented publication to featuring extensive pictorial content. Included in this issue are: To Bogota and Back by Air with 96 Illustrations by Charles A. Lindbergh; The Home of the First Framer of America with 32 Illustrations by Worth E. Shoults; and A Vacation in a Fifteenth Century English Manor House with 8 Illustrations by George Alden Sanford. Charles Augustus Lindbergh (February 4, 1902 – August 26, 1974) was an American aviator, military officer, author, inventor, and activist. At age 25 in 1927, he went from obscurity as a U.S. Air Mail pilot to instantaneous world fame by winning the Orteig Prize for making a nonstop flight from New York to Paris. Condition: Good.
