Blue Book of Gun Values; Fourteenth Edition

Minneapolis, MN: Blue Book Publications, Inc., 1994. Fourteenth Edition. Trade paperback. 1216 pages. Glossary. Illustrations. Abbreviations. References. Index. Cover has some wear and soiling. Tear as bottom back corner. This book is the result of nonstop and continual firearms research obtained by attending gun shows and by communicating with gun dealers and collectors throughout the country each year. This book represents an analysis of prices for which collectible firearms have actually been selling for during that period at an average retail level. Although every reasonable effort has been made to compile an accurate and reliable guide, gun prices may vary significantly depending on such factors as the locality of the sale, the number of sales that were considered, and economic conditions. This edition includes a revised "Photo Percentage Grading System," that will enable collectors to accurately ascertain the condition of most firearms. Editions that are superseded retain significant reference value. They provide a baseline against with later changes can be identified and their impact assessed. They also provide a boundary against which changes from earlier versions that occur in that edition can also be identified and assessed. Steve was born on July 18, 1950. Steve was introduced to firearms and hunting at a young age. Steve attended the University of Minnesota and North Dakota State University. His love of firearms would become his life’s work after he began attending shows on the gun show circuit. It was obvious Steve had a knack for firearms as he bought a Winchester Model 21 Grand American in 1976 on layaway. In 1980, Steve moved to Minneapolis and began working as a numismatist and a gun broker with Investment Rarities. A year later, he took over the manuscript of the annual Blue Book of Gun Values. In 1988, Steve and three others founded Blue Book Publications, which over the years expanded into a robust publishing company with more than 100 titles in print and a full online offering. The 40th Anniversary Edition Blue Book of Gun Values was published in early 2019. Steve was into collectibles, specifically fine firearms.

Steve was also a lifelong member of SCI, OGCA, BCA, MWCA, Armor & Arms Club of New York, as well as the NRA, and was currently serving as a member on the Publication’s Committee. He has authored hundreds of articles and on-line postings that have appeared in American Rifleman, Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Guns & Ammo, The Shooting Sportsman, and other industry magazines as well as making many appearances over the years on TV.
