Among those on distribution was Bill Bookless of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory who served as the Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration in the Trump Administration. This plan was based upon a preceding Nuclear Weapons Information Management Assessment report that was distributed in 1998. That Assessment report called for the production of this Strategic Plan. The Goals of the Strategic Plan were to: Preserve the Knowledge Base of the Nuclear Weapons Complex, Make the Knowledge Base of the Nuclear Weapons Complex Accessible, as appropriate, to the User, and Integrate Nuclear Weapons Information Life-Cycle Management Through the Nuclear Weapons Complex Business Activities. Formal Retention Requirements for Weapon Data
-- All weapons related information are kept on permanent retention due to historical and research value
--The DOE/NARA schedule is the basis for individual site's retention schedules for records
-- Nuclear Weapon records fall under records destruction moratoriums authorized by DOE. Those records under moratoriums cannot be destroyed until the
moratoriums are officially rescinded by DOE. Records currently subject to destruction moratoriums include:
a. Epidemiological records (effective March 15, 1989);
b. Nuclear weapons data records (effective August 26, 1992); and,
c. Human, scientific and radiation experiment records (effective January 13, 1994). Condition: Very good.
