Format is approximately 8.75 inches by 11.5 inches. 16 pages, plus covers Laid in at the back is an (unused) order form for The Official Inaugural License Plate and The Official Inaugural Book, the 1977 Inaugural Map and Index to the Sights and Sounds of Washington, D.C. (approximately 24 inches by 21 inches, folded into six panes. Printed on one side only. Also laid in is an envelop, approximately 8 inches by 9 inches, stating The Official 1997 Presidential Inaugural Commemoratives, containing a "Dear Friend" letter, a descriptive illustrative brochure, an order form, and a business reply envelop. Minor soiling. Large worn and torn envelop that contained all these items is present, with the addressee's name and address on the front. Ink stamp from the Washington, GA Post Office on the front. An inaugural committee is appointed by the President-elect to be in charge of the presidential inaugural ceremony and activities connected with the ceremony. This committee is required to disclose to the FEC donations received. This report is due to the FEC no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the 90th day following the date of the presidential inaugural ceremony. The inauguration of Jimmy Carter as the 39th President of the United States was held on Thursday, January 20, 1977, at the East Portico of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. This was the 48th inauguration and marked the commencement of the only term of both Jimmy Carter as President and Walter Mondale as Vice President. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger administered the presidential oath of office to Carter, and Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill administered the vice-presidential oath of office to Mondale.This was the last inauguration held on the East Portico of the Capitol building.
