The prime objective of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission - Lovelace Foundation Fission Product Inhalation Program is to develop knowledge that will contribute to an improved understanding of the biological consequences of inhaling radionuclides, such as might be released in the event of nuclear accidents. The ultimate goal is to establish the relationship between the radiation dose pattern resulting from various levels and types of exposures and the resulting biological response.
