He commanded 129 Infantry Brigade, TA, at Oxford, from 1964 to 1966. Harbottle was chief of staff of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus from 1966 to 1968. After two years in the post, the UN Secretary General U Thant requested that Harbottle remain as chief of staff of the UN Force in Cyprus; however, the Ministry of Defence declined to support his continuation in the role. He retired from the army in 1968. He became chief security officer for a British-owned mining subsidiary of the Consolidated African Selection Trust in Sierra Leone. Cover has some wear and sunning. Lieutenant General Joseph M. Heiser, Jr., retired with over 30 years’ active duty in the U.S. Army. His rapid ascension through the ranks, from a first sergeant to second lieutenant in 1943, is indicative of his outstanding organizational ability and resourcefulness. His name has become synonymous with two of the most successful programs in ordnance: the closed-loop system and the logistics offensive. The closed-loop system maximized the utilization of material and reduced acquisition requirements by effecting the overhaul of unserviceable materiel and its return to the supply system. The logistics offensive resulted in reduction in tonnages of supplies, improved inventory and location accuracy, reduced response time required to meet requirements, improved operational readiness rates, and upgraded combat readiness throughout the entire U.S. Army. Until 1958, Hoyt worked in news media, after which he produced non-fiction works. Hoyt served with the Office of War Information during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. In 1945 and 1946, he served as a foreign correspondent for The Denver Post and the United Press, reporting from locations in China, Thailand, Burma, India, the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and Korea. In the 40 years since his first publication in 1960, he produced nearly 200 published works. While Hoyt wrote about 20 novels (many published under the pseudonyms Christopher Martin and Cabot L. Forbes), the vast majority of his works are biographies and other forms of non-fiction, with a heavy emphasis on World War II military history. More

During World War II, James A Huston served as an operations officer in the 3rd Battalion, 134th Infantry, a unit that helped to liberate or capture dozens of cities across France, Belgium, and Germany. From July 1944 through April 1945, the regiment captured 8,974 prisoners of war and covered over 1,500 combat miles, but lost 10,046 men in the process. After teaching history at Purdue University for 26 years — with interim years teaching at the National War College, Naval War College — he came to the University of Lynchburg, where he had a profound impact on the academic life of the institution. Dr. Huston served as dean of the College and professor of history and international relations from 1972 to 1984, when he retired.
