Pencil erasure residue on title page. Kaufman takes us on an unblinking tour of the dismal landscape of red tape. But he also shows us another side of red tape, one we often forget. Red tape is how government protects us from tainted food, shoddy products, and unfair labor practices. It guarantees a social safety net for the elderly, the disabled, children, veterans, and victims of natural disasters. One person’s red tape is another person’s protection. More

Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson, 2012. First Printing [Stated]. Hardcover. xviii, 298, [4] pages. Author's Notes. Introduction, Sixteen Chapters. Postscript. Notes. About the Author. Index. Andrew Peter Napolitano (born June 6, 1950) is an American syndicated columnist. He was an analyst for Fox News. He has written nine books on legal and political subjects. Napolitano subscribes to a natural law jurisprudence. Napolitano's philosophy generally leans towards strong originalism while not accepting the limitations of the type of originalism espoused by Justice Antonin Scalia with respect to the Constitution's open-ended provisions like the Ninth Amendment. He finds such limitations too restricting on a judge's ability to apply the natural law to decide cases where the liberty of the individual is at stake. He argues that Lochner v. New York was overruled in error, as the Contracts Clause and the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment due process clauses protect a sphere of personal economic liberty. More

There are two basic alternatives as to the ultimate responsibility for uranium enrichment activities: continued ownership and operation by the Government or transfer of the function to industry. This AEC staff report represents an effort to identify and discuss the primary factors involved in the Government's consideration of whether to permit private participation in uranium enriching, either in the near or long-term future, and the framework within which any such participation could best be carried out. The study does not attempt to advocate a particular course of action or to arrive at conclusions regarding the feasibility or desirability of private participation. Such conclusions depend largely upon the relative weight given to the various considerations discussed in this report. More
